Beniya Mukayu

There is an inn called Beniya-Mukayu in the hot spring village of Kaga in Ishikawa Prefecture. As coined by the Chinese philosopher Chuang-tzu, mukau means nothingness or idleness. But therein lies a complete upending of common values; it comprises a vision in which that which seems useless at first glance is all the richer. I helped them out a little by designing the logotype, pamphlets, a series of amenity products called "Yakushiyama Amenity" and packaging for water and coffee.
